Dan Shugar has led teams responsible for deploying more than 500 solar electric power systems and has helped improve the efficiency and affordability of solar photovoltaic products, manufacturing and installation. Dan has driven electric vehicles for decades; helped spearhead efforts to generate public awareness of solar technology through his work with business, policymakers, the media, NGOs, and many other stakeholders; and he's been a prime mover in advancing solar deployment through his work in the regulatory and policy arena. Dan Shugar is also the CEO of Solaria, whose offices are powered by an onsite solar power system, includes an organic farm where employees grow and harvest vegetables, an electric vehicle charging station, and bicycle racks.

As the Executive Director and Founder of Strategic Energy Innovations, Cyane has pioneered dozens of innovative programs that enable communities to reach education, economic and development goals through the lens of sustainability. In 2011, the Marin School of Environmental Leadership, a magnet school within Terra Linda High School, was launched to implement an innovative model for education that provides a rigorous and balanced academic structure with a focus on environmental stewardship.

As principal of Ryan Elementary School in San Jose, Douglas Paganelli has demonstrated his commitment via the Let's Get Moving to School project which includes Walking Wednesdays, and Get Fit Fridays. Doug encourages the entire school to walk to get to school to reduce air pollution in the community and personally leads kids to walk to school every Wednesday and sets up raffles to motivate the kids to use alternative transportation.

To promote growth with a sustainable environment, Adobe implemented alternative systems to generate energy. Adobe placed twenty wind turbines in its headquarters campus, as well as twelve large fuel cells, which generate about 1/3 of its overall energy usage. Adobe’s fuel cells are powered with bio-methane so its alternative energy systems are carbon neutral, generating 1.2 MW of carbon free electricity in San Jose. Adobe holds the world's first Platinum LEED certification under the Existing Buildings program and through a series of 140 energy projects has reduced its overall carbon emissions by 4%.

For decades Dr. Shusterman has dedicated himself to the studying the impact of air pollutants to respiratory function and public health. His research has included analysis of the effect of work related exposures such as solvents, metals, pesticides, ammonia and other airborne chemicals. Dr. Shusterman has investigated exposures resulting from urban fires, tobacco smoke, and other odor causing pollutants from stationary sources. His work has contributed significantly to the field of occupational and environmental medicine.

For developing the electronic bicycle locker and the Bike Link system which has revolutionized secure bike parking technology - changing the concept of a bike locker from an individual use box to a shared resource serving multiple users. These group parking stations are helping to make commuting by bike a viable alternative for thousands of people throughout the Bay Area by providing secure bike parking for only pennies an hour. With over 7,000 rental transactions a month, BikeLink reduces the number of trips to transit made by car.

For initiating the California Best Buildings Challenge. The program directed by Ashleigh Talberth, shows once again how the SF Bay Area can lead the way. Inspired by President Barack Obama's Better Buildings Challenge which calls for 20 percent energy reductions by 2020, the California Best Buildings Challenge commits 14 leading and start-up companies, to reduce energy use, water, and waste by 20 percent in just two years. This landmark, short time frame leverages California's culture of innovation and accelerates the green building movement forward.

For more than two decades, ECOtality has developed storage technologies and electrical vehicle supply equipment with the goal of promoting electric vehicle transportation. ECOtality is overseeing the largest deployment of EVs and charging stations in the United States history. The company has installed over 9,500 chargers.

For his tireless commitment to alternative fueled vehicles including founding the Green Transportation Workforce Development Inc. to bring together experts to provide alternative fuel vehicle training for fleet technicians; placing fifty affordable electric vehicles in the Bay Area in collaboration with THINK EV Company ; and Promoting the "Zero Emissions Squared" program that involves solar fueling of all electric vehicles. Bob has been a tireless advocate for clean fueled vehicles, donating thousands of hours and his own resources. Bob, please accept these commendations for the California State Senate.
